 The 24th Kansas Masonic All-State High School Marching Band
Camp was held July 24-28 on the Fort Hays State University campus.
A total of 209 of Kansas’ best high school musicians were
showcased in this event that was capped by the halftime performance in
the Kansas East-West All-Star Shrine Bowl football game.The band
performed on July 27th at the Shrine Bowl Banquet on the grounds of the Ellis County Fairgrounds. The next morning, the band led the hour-long Shrine
Bowl Parade through downtown Hays. The Shrine Bowl game followed
that night at Lewis Field Stadium, where the band performed
during pre-game and halftime ceremonies.
Students were sponsored by Masonic organizations throughout the state.
The all-state musicians were treated to a hamburger cookout provided by Western Kansas Masons; popcorn socializer sponsored by members of Hays Lodge #195, AF&AM; informational meeting to learn more about Masonry and
Shrinedom; and recreational time playing miniature golf and other fun things at Precision Valley Golf Center.
Band Camp XXV will be held July 22-26, 2008, on the Emporia State University campus. Fliers will be mailed to high school band directors in January, 2008, with applications going to Masonic organizations in February, 2008.
