bandshirt.jpgThe 28th Kansas Masonic All-State High School Marching Band Camp was held July 26-30 on the Fort Hays State University campus. A total of 170 of Kansas’ best high school musicians were showcased in this event that was capped by the halftime performance in the Kansas East-West All-Star Shrine Bowl football game.The band performed on July 29th at the Shrine Bowl Banquet at the Ellis County Fairgrounds. The next morning, the band led the hour-long Shrine Bowl Parade through downtown Hays. The Shrine Bowl game followed that night at Lewis Field Stadium, where the band performed during pre-game and halftime ceremonies.

Students were sponsored by Masonic organizations throughout the state. The all-state musicians were treated to a hamburger cookout provided by members of Northwest Kansas Lodges; informational meeting to learn more about Masonry and Shrinedom; and recreational time at Precision Valley Golf Center.

Band Camp XXIX will be held July 24-28, 2012, on the Emporia State University campus. Fliers will be mailed to high school band directors in January, 2012, with applications going to Masonic organizations in February, 2012.
