bandshirt.jpgThe 25th Kansas Masonic All-State High School Marching Band Camp was held July 22-26 on the Emporia State University campus. A total of 214 of Kansas’ best high school musicians were showcased in this event that was capped by the halftime performance in the Kansas East-West All-Star Shrine Bowl football game.The band performed on July 25th at the Shrine Bowl Banquet at ESU's Albert Taylor Hall. The next morning, the band led the hour-long Shrine Bowl Parade through downtown Emporia. The Shrine Bowl game followed that night at Welch Stadium, where the band performed during pre-game and halftime ceremonies.

Students were sponsored by Masonic organizations throughout the state. The all-state musicians were treated to a hamburger cookout provided by members of Emporia Lodge #12, AF&AM; sandwich socializer; informational meeting to learn more about Masonry and Shrinedom; and recreational time bowling at Flinthills Lanes in Emporia.

Band Camp XXVI will be held July 21-25, 2009, on the Wichita State University campus. Fliers will be mailed to high school band directors in January, 2009, with applications going to Masonic organizations in February, 2009.
