The 26th Kansas Masonic All-State High School Marching Band
Camp was held July 21-25 on the Wichita State University campus.
A total of 188 of Kansas’ best high school musicians were
showcased in this event that was capped by the halftime performance in
the Kansas East-West All-Star Shrine Bowl football game.The band
performed on July 24th at the Shrine Bowl Banquet at Century II. The next morning, the band led the hour-long Shrine
Bowl Parade through downtown Wichita. The Shrine Bowl game followed
that night at Cessna Stadium, where the band performed
during pre-game and halftime ceremonies.
Students were sponsored by Masonic organizations throughout the state.
The all-state musicians were treated to a hamburger cookout provided by members of North Star Lodge #168, AF&AM; informational meeting to learn more about Masonry and
Shrinedom; and recreational time bowling at Rhatigan Student Center on the WSU campus.
Band Camp XXVII will be held July 27-31, 2010, on the Pittsburg State University campus. Fliers will be mailed to high school band directors in January, 2010, with applications going to Masonic organizations in February, 2010.
